This is a selected list of projects I have done or involved considerably
- Design and Construction of an Unmanned Weather Station with Compact Flash memory, High Speed Microcontroller & USB interface. (Project Completed & Applied for Sri Lanka Patent)
- An Early Warning System to detect Earth Slips in identified areas using real time rain fall measurements and SMS alerts. This project is a collaboration of to Disaster Management Unit & Department of Meteorology. (Project collaborated with ITI, Sri Lanka,project completed with 20 remote stations)
- Implementing an Unmanned Weather Station with Compact Flash Data Logger, Solar Cell Battery Backup, Wireless Data Acquisition (Using RF module and a GSM Module) (Project Completed). This project is approved by the Science and Technology Ministry to be installed island wide.
- Standalone DAQ system with an embedded TCP/IP stack and an HTTP server
- GPS & Compact Flash memory based data logger for a time of arrival lightning location finder. (Project Completed)
- Device to Detect Magnetic Filed Formed During Lightning This is a high sensitive magnetic field measuring system (200 µGauss) to detect lightning magnetic fields. (Completed)
- Microcontroller demonstration and programming and prototyping board. (Project Completed and more than 100 boards are manufactured and distributed)
- Energy Management in Tea Industry. This is an ongoing project to minimize the Electric and Bio mass energy wastage in tea factories in Uwa area by giving consultancy modern E3ST energy management technologies. As the first step Variable Speed Drive (VSD) AC motors with microprocessor controllers are introduced.
- Automated temperature and humidity data logger for grain store. The system logs humidity and temperature at various places of the store with time in to a Compact Flash Memory module. (Project Completed)
- Implemented a fully functional software application using Delphi (capable of displaying, logging, generating reports and graphs of weather data) for a USB based Unmanned Weather Station. This software project along with its hardware design was chosen the best undergraduate research project of the year.
- Mac OS X DAQ software for MALDI TOF mass Spectrometer. The system consists of Agilent infinium DSO, NI GPIB LAN card, and COCOA based software front end. This software project is an improvement and an adaptation of a software built for mass spectrometry in University of Manitoba, Canada, to suit our requirements.
- Localization of java applet based virtual experiments in Physics for Advanced Level Physics Students.
